Your skin is comprised of two types of important skin fibers: collagen and elastin. Collagen fibers [found in the reticular dermis] are the structural fibers of the skin.

Collagen fibers do not stretch very well. In fact, one of its functions is to resist stretching and provide structure. Scar tissue is composed of collagen fibers.    Elastin fibers [found in the papillary dermis] are the ‘rubberband’ fibers responsible for the ‘snap back’ quality of young skin. Elastin fibers are recognized by leading skin physiology physicians, like Dr. Peter Pugliese M.D., to be the important ‘Youth Protein’ fibers of skin. They give young (pre 25 years of age), smooth, firm skin its resiliency - its retraction and ‘snap’. Elastin fibers are considered the skin’s very important "rubberbands."

Published research and clinical trials confirm that a person’s genetic predisposition to inherit more or less DHT receptors in their skin fibroblast cells dictates the onset age and severity of elastin production decrease as we age. Medical research recognizes that our bodies, and more particularly -the cell's of our bodies- are a composition of millions of "signal" molecules. Some of these "signal" molecules are androgens and some are anti-androgens. Androgens naturally circulate in the blood stream of both men and women. When an androgen enters a skin cell, it is converted to Dihydrotestosterone or DHT. DHT has a natural affinity to the cell’s DHT receptor - like a magnet to metal - and binds to the receptor. This bound complex moves to the nucleus of the cell and sends a message to the nucleus to stop/reduce producing elastin. Anti-androgens, which also have an affinity for DHT receptors, stop this union by acting as a goalie or blocker. This blocking of the DHT binding to the DHT receptor allows the cells to continue producing elastin. Until sometime between 25 and 30 years of age- depending on our genetic disposition- the ratio of DHT and DHT receptors to anti-androgens is balanced.

As we age beyond 25- 30 yrs old , this equilibrium is disrupted as both DHT and DHT receptors increase and anti-androgens decrease. It is this naturally occurring imbalance, which happens in everyone's skin as we age, that leads to the decline in our skins important elastin production.

Ethocyn was specifically designed by biochemist, Dr. Chantal Burnison to mimic, or simulate, the process that naturally occurs in young skin. Ethocyn is a competitive inhibitor -- this means it blocks something from taking place. Ethocyn molecules, when applied topically to your skin, blocks DHT-DHT receptor binding in fibroblast skin cells, thereby allowing elastin production to continue at levels of young (18-25 yrs old)  skin . The 19 years of research and $20 million-plus of safety and efficacy Ethocyn research studies confirm that Ethocyn is an ingredient every person over 25 years of age, male and female, should apply to their skin twice daily. The elastin levels will be that of 20 year old skin after 30-60 days of use. Skin will resume its ‘snap back’ quality of young, smooth, resilient ‘snap back‘ skin.

Ethocyn was designed to mimic, or simulate, the process that naturally occurs in young skin. Ethocyn is a competitive inhibitor -- this means it blocks something from taking place. Ethocyn molecules, when applied topically to your skin, block what causes DHT-DHT receptor binding in skin cells allowing elastin production to continue.

As confirmed by eminent M.D. and skin physiologist Dr. Peter T. Pugliese,  “ The single most important cause of age related skin wrinkles and sagging is the loss of skin elastin fibers. Everyone, whether female or male, will begin to lose skin elastin fibers at age 25. Elastin fibers are the restorative force in the skin.”

Medical research findings confirm that our skin produces/synthesizes less and less elastin fibers as we chronologically age. This is recognized as Intrinsic Skin Aging and completely independent of Photo (sun) Damage Skin Aging. Using sunscreens and sun blocks protect skin from Photo Aging, but not Intrinsic Aging.

Elastin fibers give skin its ‘rubber bands’, – its ‘snap-back quality’. Sagging skin is lacking youthful levels of elastin fibers . Wrinkles form because there is elastin fiber deficient (sagging) skin lying over the moving muscles of your face. Using skin treatment products containing Ethocyn treats this loss of important elastin fiber by returning the elastin content of your skin to that of elastic, youthful 20 year old skin.

Prestigious, academic dermatologists at independent university medical centers around the world have conducted numerous Ethocyn clinical trials. These clinical trials report that it is important to use Ethocyn to increase the elastin fiber content and quality of your skin if you are over 25-30 years of age. This applies to both men and women between the ages of 25-77 years of age.

Using Ethocyn products twice a day, everyday, assures your skin will have the optimum 20 year old levels of skin elastin fibers. Use Ethocyn skin treatment products to realize smoother, firmer, more resilient skin with an incredible ‘snap back’ quality.
